Innovation Hub Working groups

Fundamental to the approach of the Innovation Hub is collaboration.

Combining the talent and capacity of our member organisations to support some of the best talent in the sector to combine forces to create real change. Working groups combine the operational leads of multiple and diverse organisation to work on solutions for some of the big challenges.

Quality of Life Working group – how do you improve the experience of care so that Older Australians enjoy life more receiving care than people of a similar age in the community?

Our Answer to date – build measures to assess quality of life, develop the Quality of Life Improvement Framework to actively improve care, Support research to develop accessible self assessment for people experiencing cognitive impairment (a large percentage of out clients). Strategies to balance dignity of risk and informed consent. (link to Quality of Life)

Governance Working Group – How to you govern organisations and services to actively lead them towards accountability, integrity and improvement?

Our answer to date – develop risk and opportunity framework, investigate how to govern contractors / associate providers to balance flexibility and assurance, supporting information to boards for clarity without overwhelming.

Workforce Working Group – how do you attract talented, caring staff and offering long term rewarding careers and build training and development that creates the skill set for next generation care?

Our answer to date – support staff quality of life (it is intwined with client quality of life), provide proactive wellbeing and mental wellness support to aid staff in navigating the challenges of working in aged care and in broader life (link to 50 Plus), optimise work life balance, (Link to support 50 plus workers) develop flexible and releivant skills training for care staff (Link to flexible cert III), provide leadership and community building skills to help managers support clients and staff to develop positive cultures of care (link to My Home Life)

Support at Home Working Group – Many Older Australians have expressed they prefer care in their homes. How to maintain quality of care, safety for clients and workers and enhance quality of life through a lone working in isolation? How do you provide care from a few hours per week that enables clients lives 24/7? If the choice is to stay at home, how to you optimise support with limited resources?

Our answer to date – you will have to stay tuned – the working group is recently formed. We are working with the Centre of Research Excellence – HomeCare to answer these questions and more that we discover along the way build next generation care at home.
