Flexible Certificate III – Individual Support

Care is a person to person experience, good care is supported by the development of appropriate skills and a positive culture of care. With care constantly evolving, new research and techniques being developed internationally, continuing to work on flexible ways to improve skills is one of the keys to next generation care.

Working with the Action Learning Institute (ALI), Australian Nursing & Midwifery Education Centres (ANMEC), Barossa Village, Resthaven and Kalyra an improved approach is being developed. Funded by Skills SA, ALI has worked with providers to refine and map leading real world skills to the qualification. Using an innovative action learning approach students demonstrate their competence in the work and gaps are addressed and supported with personal learning plan. AN action learning approach is used with participants collaborating with peers to learn and share expertise in context.

Currently being piloted to support existing homecare workers to gain qualifications the response from participants has been overwhelmingly positive with over 90% of participants completing the qualification.

A second pilot in homecare is already underway and a large test group working with Kalyra, Bene and Southern Cross Care is widening the approach to other roles and working with a larger group of participants will commence shortly.
