About

We work with older people to improve and support quality of life - creating positive opportunities in how Older Australians chose to live.

By working together, we aim to improve the experience of care.

The Aged Care Innovation Hub is a community of practice in action which translates ideas, innovation, learning and research into practice.

Starting life as The SA Innovation Hub which officially launched in October 2014 by Aged Care Minister Andrews. The initial Hub trial was aimed at decreasing provider administrative burden through deregulation so we can focus of providing high quality care to older Australians.

Our partnership with the government ceased in 2016 with the change of MInister. The Member Organisations identified the opportunity to evolve the focus and build the partnership to share the work to improve care in Australia. An MOU was signed in 2017 and the next era of the Innovation Hub was launched. Work continued to improve Quality of Life with the first study in Australia measuring QUality of Life in Residential Aged Care, Leadership development in the sector through a mentoring program, and the application of evidence based innovations such as My Home Life from the UK.

As development continues the members moved to registering as a charity and established as a formal legal entity in 2022, the Innovation Hub formed a structure to allow engagement in contracts and to accept grant funding. The CEOs of member organisations forming the Board of the Innovation Hub.

The Hub updated its constitution in 2023 in response to interest from interstate Aged Care Organisations in joining the Hub. The Aged Care Innovation Hub continues to grow and support its members to share the risk, rewards, expertise and costs of innovating.

Members of the Aged Care Innovation Hub (as well as their teams) join together to collaborate and share knowledge as well as implementing new ideas into the industry, developing new and innovative strategies, products and services that older people highly value.  We partner with the Centre for Research Excellence in Home Care, We host an Australian Research Council Fellow focusing on improving the measurement of Quality of Life for people experiencing cognitive impairment.
